A novel recovery strategy from commutation failures considering the frequency constraints of receiving-end system

Abstract Commutation failure (CF) threatens system safety with traditional HVDCs. To improve the recovery performance from CF, a novel strategy is proposed, where dynamic current ramp limiter introduced to reduce probability of overshot during recovery. The designed based on idea judging state by dc level, high level corresponds risk CF. limit calculated frequency constraint ac systems. Case studies real-world are used verify effectiveness proposed method, and results show that method can avoid continuous CFs.
